Social/Life Skills Group Facilitators
We are currently looking to hire social/life skills group facilitators to join our team. Successful applicants will work with other team members to support children and teens towards success in our social groups. Currently we offer supported social play groups for children ages 6 through 14, teen/young adult social groups (ages 15+), and 1:1 direct support and counselling.
At our Social Learning Centre we support individuals with ASD in developing social skills and social relationships. Often this involves working on child-specific goals while playing board games, Lego, or assisting with other age-appropriate activities. We believe in making learning as fun and natural as possible!
We also support individuals in the community! Our team members have taken clients hiking, swimming, boating, indoor rock climbing, job hunting, grocery shopping, and much more.
This position is for you if you have a background in psychology, child development, social work counselling. You have a passion for working with children, teens and young adults, you love to play, and you are physically active. Previous experience working with individuals with autism is an asset.
Interest or knowledge in one or more of the following is also very helpful: Lego, Pokémon, video games (Minecraft, Fortnite, COD, GTA, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Roblox), Dungeons and Dragons, foosball, creative sand play, building things, painting, drawing, telling stories, etc.
Patience, flexibility, conflict resolution skills, and a good sense of humour are important above all else.
Must be available afternoons and evenings
Valid BC driver’s licence
Successful criminal record check
Hours: Casual/Part-Time, with training and education opportunities
Rate of Pay: Dependent on education and experience
